Communication & Theatre Student Organizations
Alpha Psi Omega
Alpha Psi Omega is an honorary dramatic organization. SWOSU received its charter, the Gamma Chi cast, in 1932. Alpha Psi Omega has enjoyed continuous national growth and, with over 550 casts, is the largest national honor society in America. The local chapter has as its mission to promote theatre arts on the SWOSU campus and throughout the university community. Each year, the organization sponsors the annual Teddy Awards (its version of the Tony Awards) and awards at least one scholarship a year.
University Media Association
The University Media Association is open to all students interested in mass media or journalism. Frequent club activities include hosting campus speakers and taking tours to media outlets. UMA often hosts fund-raisers, such as three-on-three basketball tournaments, for the March of Dimes.
Bulldog Broadcasting Network
The purpose of the Bulldog Broadcasting Network is to provide students with hands on television broadcast production experience while informing the community about current events. The Bulldog Broadcasting Network produces a 30 minute television broadcast that includes segments on SWOSU news, sports, entertainment, weather and other segments of community interests. The broadcast is written, directed, produced and edited by students.
