Michael Williams, Ph.D.

michael-williamsDr. Michael Williams, Ph.D. is the Associate Dean of the MBA Program at Thomas Edison State College. Prior to his appointment as associate dean, he served as the Dean of the Touro College Graduate School of Business and Faculty Chair for graduate programs in human resource management, leadership, and organizational development in Graduate School of Business and Technology at Capella University. Dr. Williams’s professional background blends 20 years of executive leadership in global business and higher education. He is a successful entrepreneur, consultant, author, and public speaker.

Dr. Williams has held global executive positions in the life sciences and financial services industries. In the life sciences as Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Organizational Learning for C3i, Inc, an Oracle/Seibel Systems Premier Partner and in financial services as Senior Vice President Corporate and Vice President for Corporate Training for J.B. Hanauer & Co. a (Royal Bank of Canada Subsidiary). Entrepreneurially, Dr. Williams is the co-founder of the Academy for Coaching and Training, a global high performance consultancy and founder of Strategic HRM a national consultancy delivering leadership, organizational development, and human capital management solutions.

Dr. Williams’s research and publishing interests include change management, leadership, adult learning, distance education technologies, and the influence of cognitive-behavioral strategies on high performance.

Dr. Williams earned a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and an MS in Human Resource Management the Fordham University Graduate School of Education and an MS in Labor and Employment Relations from the Rutgers University School of Management and Labor Relations. In addition, he earned an MBA from the DeVry University Keller Graduate School of Management and MS in Mental Health Counseling from the Touro College Graduate School of Psychology. Lastly, he earned BM in Music Performance and Music Education and an MM in Music Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music.

Dr. Williams holds a Management Certificate from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School Business (Securities Industry Association) and the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certificate from the Society of Human Resource Management. In addition, he holds Superintendent of School certification and certification eligibility in New York and New Jersey. He was a founding faculty member of the nationally recognized Classical School of Hartford in Hartford, Connecticut having taught music, math, and aesthetics to 7th and 8th grade inner-city students.

Dr. Williams has held teaching appointments at the Touro College Graduate School of Business and Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law School, the Fordham University, Graduate School of Education, the State University of New York-Stony Brook, School of Professional Studies, the Iona College, Hagan School of Business, the Capella University, Graduate School of Business and Technology, the DeVry University, Keller Graduate School of Management, and the Northeastern University, School of Arts and Sciences. 

Dr. Williams is a National Endowment for the Humanities recipient and Huntington-Beebe International Music Competition First-Prize Winner. Recently, Dr. Williams and co-author Esther Muller published a 30 article compilation of the monthly Coaching Corner articles published in New York City based Mann Report publications entitled Success Is The Destination.
